Privacy Policy
OH HAIL NAH!! Weather (ohhailna.com) publishes severe weather information, including an automated alert bot that posts short radar videos of National Weather Service warnings to our own social accounts. This policy explains what we do, and do not do, with personal information.
Short version: the alert bot collects nothing about you. It reads public government weather data and posts videos to our own accounts.
What the alert bot collects
Nothing about viewers. The bot has no accounts, no sign-in, and no forms. The only data it processes are public alerts from the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) and public radar imagery from NOAA NEXRAD via the Iowa Environmental Mesonet.
TikTok account access
The bot connects to a single TikTok account that we own, using TikTok's Login Kit and Content Posting API. Through that connection it can read the basic profile of that one account (open ID, display name, avatar) so it can confirm which account is connected, and it can upload videos to it. Access and refresh tokens are stored only on our own server with owner-only file permissions, are never shared, and can be revoked at any time from the TikTok app under Settings, Security, Manage app permissions.
What we do not do
We do not collect, store, or analyze information about people who watch, like, comment on, or share our videos. We do not track anyone across sites or apps, we do not sell or rent data, and we run no advertising or analytics trackers in the bot. Nothing is shared with third parties beyond publishing the videos themselves on the platforms we post to.
The website and mailing list
If you save locations for alerts on ohhailna.com, those are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. If you choose to give us an email address for the Go-Plan or severe weather notes, we use it only to send you those emails; every message includes an unsubscribe link, and we do not sell or share the list.
Server logs
Our servers keep ordinary operational logs, which alert was posted, when, and whether the upload succeeded. These contain no personal information and are rotated automatically.
Children
Our services are not directed at children, and because the bot collects no personal information it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
Updated versions will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
